David Salmon
Personal Profile
David Salmon is from a very artistic and musical family and grew up in Golden Bay.
After high school David attended Nelson School of Music, Studying guitar and percussion.
His apprenticeship began in June 2001 under Jenkin Piano Service becoming ARPT Qualified four years later.
During his thirteen-year tenure with Jenkin Piano, David attended training at Steinway Hamburg and was invited to do the concert academy course.
Trained to tune by Yuji Nakamura, David has undertaken extensive further training under many highly regarded technician/tuners.
David is proud to be involved with and contribute to, the NZ piano tuners and technician's guild.

Acoustics
Carpentry and metalworking
Playing guitar, bass, drums and singing.
David has been playing instruments since approx. seven years old.

2001-2014
jenkin Piano Service
Atfer the four year apprenticeship, David was trained by and worked alongside Pascal Monti (Switzerland) Yuji Nakamura (Yamaha concert academy trained), and David Jenkin (Steinway concert academy).
Other contributors to Davids's knowledge are Ken Eschete
(USA) and Gary Beadel (Aus).
2014-2022
Hoekstra Pianos
David was hired as workshop manager and piano technician. There are many pianos re-built in Canterbury in this time including the Steinway D in Ron Ball studio, Christchurch Boys Steinway B, and many private clients.
2000-2022
Music Career
Whilst full time employed, as above, David has worked with many original and covers bands including Stolen Outside In, Sonik, The Pistons and Now International Grid.
